Post Brisbane Post

A very belated post Brisbane post. We are so behind in our blogging it is not funny. It is such a crazy time of year we hardly have time to scratch ourselves let alone do anything fun and creative so we do apologise profusely for our lack of blog time.

Finders Keepers Brisbane was 3 weeks ago. Can you believe it!?! But we had such a hoot and met so many wonderful characters we thought it necessary to blog about all the crazy funny things that happened. So here is Sanoii + Six's top 10 of Brisbane (in no particular order)!

1. Got milk?
The day before the markets began we were all allowed to set up our stalls. Six and I awoke early to run some errands, pick up some potted colour and finish swimwear prep. We were fortunate enough to finish all our tasks in time for a quick lunch break (something unheard of in S+S land). We thought we would treat ourselves to some sushi. Strolling down Coolangatta on our way to Sushi Train Six couldn't help but notice a group of older women staring and pointing at her. Looking down she realised her wrap dress had come unwrapped and she was in fact flashing one whole boob to all of Griffith Street. Six is fortunate enough to have voluptuous lady lumps and sports some of the pretties bras ever, she quickly pulled her dress across and pretended as if it was the most normal thing in the world. Poor Six this is not the first of her embarrassing under garments stories.

2. Yummy treats.
We were spoiled with new friends at Brisbane. One delightful lady came to us on Sunday morning with a lovely little box in hand. After very graciously introducing herself she then gave us some of the tastiest homemade strawberry and chocolate macaroons ever. She had given them to us as a thank you present for helping her out a few weeks prior with a particular piece she was after. Her act of generosity had me all teary and we were and still are, so incredibly grateful. We are in this business for the love of it and nothing else, but it is always so nice to be taken aback by someone else's gratitude for something we consider simply part of the job. Here's to you Amber! Amber also has a yummy blog full of delectable treats which you can check out here.

3. New friends.
Finder Keepers events are so much fun. However, they are also hectic, overwhelming, frustrating and exhausting. Everything is go go go for weeks, sometimes months prior, that you get to the markets practically hanging by a stitch, so it's very rare that we get a chance to chat to other stall holders. We were so happy in Brisbane to get a chance to chat to and meet so many lovely and helpful new friends. Some that we have already met but never get a chance to chat too and some that are new faces to us. Thanks to Hollie, Brook, Grace and Melinda for stopping by to say hello!

4. Best Stall.
By far the best stall of the market was the ever smiley Lauren Carney. Her stall was so colourful and fun. And it was so so so fun to see her artwork on more than just prints and postcards. There were bags and brooches and little diaries and what not. It was all just so lovely! Check out her lovely website and all her beautiful work here.

5. Urban Outfitters Blog.
As the crowds began to fade Sunday afternoon and we were slowly falling into a giggly state of delirium Six came across the Urban Outfitters blog. A friend of mine (who is currently living it up in the states) had contacted me to say she had seen some Sanoii + Six love on the Urban Outfitters blog. Six and I are crazy about Urban Outfitters so we headed straight over to their blog only to see a little write up about Finders Keepers Brisbane with a little shout out to Courtney Brims, Speakr Box and Sanoli + Six. Urban Outfitters is an Uh-mazing store located pretty much everywhere except Australia. Do not fret though pretties you can purchase everything online with very modest shipping prices. Excitement plus (even if they did spell our name wrong)!!!

6. Food glorious food!
Just the song I was singing whilst packing up our stall famished, only to trip over in my uber-comfortable-but-not-packing-practical swedish hasbeens. On a side note the Gold Coast and Brisbane have pretty darn good places to eat!

7. Kooks.
If you know us or read our blog you will know that we are not the most sophisticated of people. We are kooks* and we don't try to disguise this at all. An example of this is us always and I mean ALWAYS embarrassing ourselves in situations where you really want to act your smoothest. Enter Brooke, co-founder of Finders Keepers, on Sunday afternoon. Just as the ever lovely Brooke walks in, Vienna who is resting her heels on an inconspicuous bucket under our table, slips and practically smacks her face on said table. Smooth. Not quite. Funny. Hell yes!

*Please note numbers 1 and 6 as evidence to above mentioned kookiness.

8. Musaq.
Some people are surprised to know that we road trip the entire 12 hours up to Brisbane. Most stall holders fly, but we have so much stuff and we are usually still finishing pieces that driving is really our only option. Not that we mind because this expanse of time allows us to riffle through our pods and find some music we had long forgotten about. Pretty much the best part of a road trip is the music so we thought we would share some of the love we chose to listen to. Three albums that made a rather long and arduous drive bearable were - Sticks and Stones by New Found Glory (dear friend Amanda would be proud), Take a Vacation! by The Young Veins and wait for it. . . Justified by Justin Timberlake. Yes the last one is odd but after 9 hours of straight driving does Justin really need to be explained?

9. Eggs.
Life is better with eggs. And after a hectic few weeks it was nice to chill out in Byron Bay and have some eggs. Oh and Baskin Robbins. We are severely deprived of Baskin Robbin outlets in NSW!

10. New friends.
Yes we've already mentioned it, but we made a so many lovely new friends it really makes the whole experience worth all the stress. Number 10, which is last but definitely not least, goes out to Jill and her wacky family. Thanks for your Harry inspired facespace comment it really made our day!

So there you have it. Our random and very belated top ten of Finders Keepers Brisbane. Of course we could go on, but really it would just be ramblings and I think we've bored you enough!

xx
